Dear Okemos School Families:
Our school district has contracted with SchoolMessenger, a leading provider of notification services for parental outreach, emergency broadcasts, student attendance alerts and other communications for education. After careful consideration of several third-party notification systems, it was determined that SchoolMessenger has the features and capabilities our district was looking for in moving forward.
Therefore, we will no longer be using AlertNow effective November 1.
We anticipate the transition to be seamless. When you receive an email from the district level through SchoolMessenger, the "From" field will say: Okemos Public Schools email@example.com. A message sent from the building or school level will read: "School Name" / "Principal's Name" firstname.lastname@example.org. In the event of a telephone call, due to school closing for inclement weather or an emergency situation, the caller ID will display the district's main phone number (517) 706-5000.
The district's acquisition of the SchoolMessenger system is intended to extend its commitment to remain personally connected with parents/guardians by offering additional and timely communications. SchoolMessenger notification services are provided by Reliance Communications of Santa Cruz, California, serving thousands of schools, districts, colleges and universities with timely alerts since 1999.
**It is important that parents/guardians keep their phone numbers and email address up to date in our records. If you have a change, please notify the Main Office or School Registrar as soon as possible so the system remains current.** We are very excited to incorporate SchoolMessenger as a tool for parent communication and to deliver real-time information to you.
